how am i going to be an optimist about this?

[Almost as soon as the trial lets out, Tarrlok kind of... tears off to the kitchen, because he's mildly concerned that he's going to experience an adrenaline crash before he even starts cooking, and so he begins! He starts on some tea, marinating some beef for kebabs... but he feels like he's forgetting something...

OH SHIT. HE FORGOT TO PUT NOTES OUT OKAY FUCK HANG ON LET HIM REHASH SOMETHING HE THOUGHT WAS FUNNY AND SHOVE IT UNDER PEOPLE'S DOORS BEFORE ANYTHING BURNS]

[okay whew he makes it back to the kitchen. And so does Yuri at some point, actually! So... Tarrlok will be getting kebabs ready for everyone, since he was hungry for them, Yuri confirmed, and Cabanela said he'd have whatever he'd have. Speaking of, Cabanela shows up to make some chicken soup! And Yuri makes curry, teriyaki chicken, and steamed vegetables. So there's a little something for everyone. The food that gets put out isn't super fancy, but it's nice, and there's tea just like Elda wanted.

[Well, you know how it is! Tarrlok's going to be in the kitchen for a good long while, stress cooking away. He's still taking requests, but if no one brings any, he's just going to make kebabs. So many kebabs. Stress kebabs by the tens. It's great.

...

And then the adrenaline crash happens. He knew this was coming, but he'd hoped he could stave it off a little longer... like, that had to be a lot of adrenaline from almost dying, right. Well. Nevertheless... as the night goes on and the requests lay off, he's going to just. Make himself some coffee. Sit in the dining room. Rest... his face in his hands.

Yeah. That sure is a mood.]

[Well, he's.... here. First thing is first to light a few new candles for those they've lost. Notably, he's only lit three of them. If someone really wants to light one for Kyrie, he's left an unlit candle and holder nearby if someone really wants to, but Cabanela just isn't feeling up to mourning someone who actively did all of that just a little while ago.

The food is... nice. It's nice. It's comforting, in an odd way. He hopes they can keep this energy to refuse to cooperate with the Coordinators going. He'll be milling about the dining room and halls, asking people how they're holding up.

Later, once most people have retired to their rooms, he can be found in the second library, looking around like he's at a loss.]

[ So Elda actually delivers her own notes as well? They come around the same time as Tarrlok's or possibly you know a little sooner, but all the same, she's sending out, ]

When Tarrlok invites you to come eat, please come if only for a moment. I have something which must be heard by all of you. It shan't be more than a minute or two of your time.

[ And what's to come there? Well, at the afterparty proper Elda is going to deliver a speech. Or well, more accurately, she's going to leap up on top of the dining table and then pull into a full-as-close-to-90 degree angle bow as she can and address the assembled crowd which hopefully includes everyone. ]

I am sorry. Earlier, I doubted every one of you, and took several steps backwards. I -- we cannot afford such things from here on out. I do not ask for forgiveness, but I instead endeavor to do what I can to prove it to you.

[ And she's going to stand now, puffing out her chest as she declares, ]

My words to Ushiromiya were not a bluff. There lies only victory before us, and I shall work with every ounce of strength I possess to help us to that point. Any doubt you have, consider confiding in me - every hesitation, ever dark impulse. I shall assure you I've harbored ten for every one of yours. I've said before that we are fellows, and that remains true now. [ A beat and... and she puts a hand over her heart, clutching the fabric of the dress there. ] ... You all are mine now. And so, I too am yours.

[ And with that done, she's going to leap off the table and collect the tea that she asked for from Tarrlok. She sips it for a long time in the dinging room, but eventually the mood in there is simply too much for her, despite her bravado. Willing a determined smile on her face, despite the pain. She's going to the ballroom actually, and she's going to be playing there... for long time. A long ass time. This lasts until about one am, and then she's going to be...

Well, no, one more step.

She's going to go to her room briefly, and then she's going to be at the incinerator. She reads over whatever paper she has in hand one more time, and she's clearly... crying? and then she's going to be tossing that into the incinerator. Then she's going to bed. ]

[ So, Yuri went and grabbed some letters from Sayaka's room and he is going to be making his way over to Tarrlok because there is one for him. He'll poke him. ]

Hey, you got a minute?

[ Yuri would've grabbed some of the letters from Sayaka's room later on, and as he's making his rounds he'll eventually come across Cabanela here. ]

Yo, Cabanela. Catch.

[ He'll wait for him to face him before he even considers handing over the letter for him. ]

[It's only after the speech, and after she's gotten a cup of tea, that Cabanela approaches her.]

...If it weren't for you, we might all be...

[He trails off, shaking his head.]

Thank you, Elda.

[ After hearing that speech, he'll be hanging around in the dining room and then elsewhere to grab the letters. Then, he'll eventually wander into the ballroom upon being drawn by the sound of that piano. ]

You sound pretty good as always.

[ ... Also he has letters on him - has Elda already gotten hers or does Yuri need to give her the letter her? ]

[ So Yuri's going to be in the kitchen for a bit, helping with the cooking (or rather, stress cooking) and it's nice because it does give himself something to do. A lot's happened today and he's still wired himself from the trial.

Later on, Yuri will obtain letters from Sayaka's room to go hunt down and pass them on to people who haven't already grabbed a hold of theirs, so on and so forth. It's another thing to do, if anything.

For a short while he can be found in the dojo. Unlike everyone else, he hasn't quite settled down yet. He's pounding against the barricades, furiously, because there is a lot of rage he's been keeping back. It hurt losing two people he deeply cared about, and he couldn't even punch Kyrie or Jericho (yet) in the face.

Then, he'll be found in the bar briefly, though he's not here for a drink. Not yet, anyway. ]

[ She's a little bit ... tired? Tired but be good word, as she sits there, smiling for him. For her part, noticing he's done with the candles, she makes to count them. And then finally, she goes to light the last one. She'll use Kirei's to light up Kyrie's. That man can bear one more sin, she's sure. ]

It did what I must.

[ She did not, actually. But she pauses in her playing to look at him, her brow furrowed a little. ]

Ah, thank you. I think the notes are a little off today, honestly.

I can't really tell. It sounds all nice to me, if I'm being fair.

[ He'll smile... slightly. ]

By the way, this is for you. I thought you might like to have it.

[ He'll step closer and reach out to her with the letter. ]

We'll get out of here. That, I'm certain of. I don't plan on giving up, on letting Jericho win...

But that doesn't give us long to act, does it? We'll need to come up with some kind of plan as soon as we can. The others will probably be able to give their own input.

[He turns to regard Yuri.]

[ She leans back a little once they've got the Kyrie candle lit up. ]

She takes the letter, but her finger coil around the thing, not really opening it. With a little bit of a pause, she just sets it on the piano's hood. It's. ]

It's Sayaka's, right? Or maybe Alex's? I don't think I want to read it just yet.

Maybe we should move our meeting to sometime a little earlier-- decide on a plan of action before Jericho has a chance to try to sway someone else with another ridiculous incentive.

I'd agree. Habits all in good, but I want to get stock in everything we've found and everything we've not. There's a half dozen secret rooms and locked doors and the like around the building, right? And I need to make sure to see if the ghosts have anything to tell us.

I understand. Today's been full of a lot of crap today - it's the same reason why I haven't read mine yet.

[ He plans to do that much later in the confines of his room. ]

Considering that girl... I don't know what would infuriate me more, if that letter was clearly written in the last week, "just in case," or if it was written a week or two ago and is written from the perspective that she was the culprit. They both seem so likely to me.

[ she flicks at the letter, all but glaring at it. ]

Maybe we should make another attempt at unlocking some of the doors-- has anyone found keys to account for all of the locked doors?

[ Yuri would've felt awkward about that too. So. ]

No problem.

[ ... Normally Yuri would just ask 'how are you holding up' but god. Forget that. ]

You wanna talk about anything that just happened?

[Immediately after the trial, Rideaux can be found in the infirmary. Luca received a pretty nasty crossbow shot, so that needs treatment. Weirdly enough, Rideaux never thought he'd be so glad to treat an actual living person for once. But even after that little session is done, Rideaux sticks around in there to clean up and just...make an attempt to decompress once again. Today has been a wild ride and he doesn't feel great about it.

He eventually makes it down to eat place- or the dining hall. He didn't make any special requests for Tarrlok, so he just has kebabs, chicken and veggies. He harped on Kyrie a lot for the whole cooking thing, but...this week has been so stressful that he's kind of thrown his precautions out the window at this point. He sticks around for a while, but he isn't particularly talkative. Still, he won't flat-out refuse conversation.

And, since this has become a tradition, he does stop in the bar later on. He fixes himself a tequila sunrise and lingers at the counter for a bit, just...thinking. But he eventually makes his way back to room 24 for the night.]

[Cabanela sighs.]

...We had a near miss, today. I don't think it's sunk in for me yet.
