how am i going to be an optimist about this?
[Almost as soon as the trial lets out, Tarrlok kind of... tears off to the kitchen, because he's mildly concerned that he's going to experience an adrenaline crash before he even starts cooking, and so he begins! He starts on some tea, marinating some beef for kebabs... but he feels like he's forgetting something...
...
OH SHIT. HE FORGOT TO PUT NOTES OUT OKAY FUCK HANG ON LET HIM REHASH SOMETHING HE THOUGHT WAS FUNNY AND SHOVE IT UNDER PEOPLE'S DOORS BEFORE ANYTHING BURNS]
FOOD IN EAT PLACE
[okay whew he makes it back to the kitchen. And so does Yuri at some point, actually! So... Tarrlok will be getting kebabs ready for everyone, since he was hungry for them, Yuri confirmed, and Cabanela said he'd have whatever he'd have. Speaking of, Cabanela shows up to make some chicken soup! And Yuri makes curry, teriyaki chicken, and steamed vegetables. So there's a little something for everyone. The food that gets put out isn't super fancy, but it's nice, and there's tea just like Elda wanted.
So have at, then!]

[The exercise would probably be over well before this, for one. Either way, discussion of powers could be a good distraction from everything that today decided to be, so...]
I don't believe I've heard much of your abilities, though. What is Sfeer Theory?
no subject
Or outer nerd because he doesn't really hide it, but. Here it is.]
To condense it down a bit, it is the application of one's own willpower to the world around themselves. Some tools are needed to do this- drawn circles, for one, not unlike the alchemy circles and magic circles that have been shown around here- but the majority of it has to do with how strong your willpower is and how creatively you can think.

I see. [And that's a genuinely intrigued sort of "I see".] So how would it manifest in the block you spoke of?
no subject
[N E R D]
Or, more plainly, I would use my willpower to push back against the crossbow bolt and stop it in mid-air.
no subject
Oh, I can definitely see why the Coordinators had that removed. I can see what it was a move of instinct, then.
[Aaaand that should be enough time. He sets the scalpel down and comes over to test the anesthetic.]
When I do this, what do you feel? It should be a sensation of pressure, but not pain.
[He pokes around the bolt.]
no subject
[Or Luca would have, at least.
But for now he watches as Rideaux prods at his arm, furrowing his brows in concentration as he does so.]
It doesn't hurt, to be sure. It's more like...I feel the sensation of my skin being pulled tight because you are pressing in on it.
no subject
[Kimblee existing and...all...
With Luca's confirmation, Rideaux nods and finishes his preparations to yank this thing out without causing unnecessary bleeding or damage. Soon enough he's gripping onto Luca's arm with his left hand and the bolt with his right.]
All right, we are ready then. It's coming out in three, two, one...
[The process of pulling it out is fairly quick. In no time, the bloody bolt is lying beside Luca and Rideaux has set to work on cleaning and dressing the wound.]
no subject
But then it's out, and Luca lets out a sigh of relief. Finally, he's not going to die horribly from 'arrow in arm' syndrome.
But then he watches as Rideaux dresses the wound, and he actually looks a little green in the face at it. Even with the good job Rideaux did there was still some blood, and the bolt was big enough that it left a visible hole in Luca's arm until it was bandaged up. Oddly enough, he's become a bit desensitized to wounds like that, what with all the bodies and executions he's seen over the last two months.]
That is so very different when it's on yourself.
no subject
He actually is impressed with how well Luca takes the procedure overall, though. He's barely made a peep this whole time. In turn Rideaux stays quiet while he diligently finishes up, only speaking to occasionally ask Luca how he's doing.
Soon enough, Luca's all patched up. Rideaux starts cleaning up around the counter. The bolt will be disposed of soon enough.]
I imagine so, if you're not used to it. After all, how often are you likely to come across a crossbow outside of hunting and combat?
no subject
Extremely unlikely.
[Luca looks down at the bandaged arm, frowning. It's still numb right now, but he imagines it is going to be very painful later, if the initial pain is anything to go by.]
So, how long until I don't have a hole in my arm anymore?
no subject
Hmm. [Rideaux thoughtfully drums his fingers on the counter.] Had I been able to use my healing artes, it would already be closed up. However, we're forced to do this the old fashioned way. And since it's hardly a minor injury, I suspect it will be a few weeks before it heals completely.
[He says nothing about their now very tight schedule, and instead continues as normal.]
As the wound heals, you will need to visit me regularly so I can clean and redress it to prevent infection. I will also give you some painkillers to manage any discomfort that arises.
no subject
[Since, with any luck, they should be out of here this week. Maybe. They didn't get a new floor, so that should be a sign that an end is coming.]
no subject
A wise idea. At least by then, it'll have healed enough that you should be able to take care of it on your own.
no subject
[He. He really doesn't know. He's pretty smart at most sciences, but the medical field is one he hasn't explored much in yet.]
no subject
[...Rideaux why would you suggest that to poor Luca.]
no subject
Could she have really done that? Wouldn't you have noticed that, when you removed the bolt?
no subject
[Why is he like this.]
no subject
Luca is silent and looks horrified for a moment, before he manages to speak up once more.]
I. I will check in with you frequently, then.
no subject
He smiles thinly.]
Just a few hours of direct observation should be more than enough to rule out any actual poisoning.
no subject
So if I'm not dead by morning, I'm good to go?
[Then he only has to be freaked out for that long, at least.]
no subject
Correct. Not to worry though. If the worst happens, I will do what I can to ensure you don't actually die.
[So comforting.]
no subject
I will put my trust in you, then.
