Week 8.

WEEK 8
Regardless of what you think of the most recent deaths, four more people have died this week. Milla Maxwell, Angel, Susan Ashworth, and Aligula are gone now, leaving you with about a quarter of your original number. Thirty-five down to twelve - this can't keep going for much longer, can it?

Is there anything you can do?

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Unlike the previous weeks, however, it seems that either you've reached the end of the line or Jericho has decided to stop rewarding you for your effort; where there would usually be a stairwell to a new floor, you're met with nothing but solid wall. Perhaps it's distressing; perhaps it's a good sign.

Only time will tell, and time isn't something you have a lot of around here.

[Once again, it seems like most of the contents of what might have been in here have been cleared out. There is one file still in here, though, labeled MASTERMIND.]

"Mastermind"?

[Well, that's fairly self-explanitory compared to "Conductor". He'll hand the file off to Yuri to set on the table before he tries the next possible drawer to see if it's open.]

[ He'll take it!! ... He'll also kind of snort at the title because really. What kind of guy would just name themselves 'Mastermind' as a title.

Anyway, he'll actually head back over to the table with said file. ]

[There's a photograph clipped to the inside front cover, of...well, exactly the sort of guy that would just name himself 'Mastermind' as a title, if you think about it.

Again, the first page consists entirely of text.

While I've had my doubts about a few of them, Ambitious deserves to be here. He's a warmonger in his home country, one who believes that bloodshed and destruction will ensure that he leaves behind a legacy. God knows he's one of the ones who deserves it least.

He was brought here along with someone from the same world – or perhaps just one that's similar, it's not like anyone's counting. They're the same in the end, and if he's just from someplace similar, we'll eradicate the other one too, once Rachel manages to locate him. Either way, Ambitious doesn't remember that he knew this one, at least not yet.

Hopefully they'll solve the problem of each other existing before we have to. It'd be suiting, wouldn't it?]

[ Oh hey, it's Archer. He didn't think that he'd be seeing him so soon (in photo form more like.) He doesn't know how to feel about that, but then again between Chie or Archer it was easy to make a guess that he was one of the four.

He'll read through it though, and frowns at the beginning. What the hell, Archer. He doesn't know why he still expected something better. Considering that secret of his, but still. Now he's reading along it some more. He's still judging Jericho for doing this the way he is at all... and he wonders who the hell is Rachel (predictable wonderings, probably)

He's managed to survive despite all odds, even if Incendiary did not. Something that surprises me, honestly.

Hilda's going to meet with the lot of them. I don't understand why.

Subject AMBITIOUS has chosen the title MASTERMIND for himself; thirty people this time. He's taken control of Rachel to do this, though he doesn't seem to understand her at all; he simply allows her to do as she sees fit, within the verbal parameters he sets. He ignores her, otherwise.

AMBITIOUS/MASTERMIND has been neutralized by Subjects PRETENTIOUS and VAINGLORIOUS.

Addendum: Status of Overseer HILDA LARIMORE appears to have been reported in error; her signature has been detected and indicates that she is alive and well.

[ Hooooly shit.

That. Is a lot. And that is putting it lightly. He squints vaguely at some of the things in here -- once again at the name 'Rachel'. He also scrutinizes the part in particular about Hilda being neutralized and then reported in error. He is going to definitely ask about that at some point.

But now, since Rideaux has handed him the one for WORDSMITH, he'll be moving onto that one. Who is looking at here? ]

[Once again, there's a photograph clipped to the inside front cover; again, he's likely not much of a surprise, but still, there may be an intense sense of "Ah, yes, there he is. This motherfucker. What a tool."

Inquisitive seems to have been at this for a while now, though I'm not surprised that he's doing this; I'm also not surprised, in retrospect, that it took us this long to find him. His world's gone more or less completely to hell; whether he ended it himself or it ended by other means is something deserving of future investigation, though I don't know that there's much left to yield the information short of Inquisitive himself.

Hilda's taken a particular interest in this one - something else that's almost a disappointing lack of surprise. Might as well let her go take a look.

[ Ah yes, if there is someone he thinks who deserves the worst, it is this guy (are we really surprised about that. are we.) Welp.

Anyway, he'll just make a brief look of contempt at the photo and then move onto the text because hey the guy is dead and he is here to make some progress and all. Once he's done reading that, he'll just kind of move on and flip to the next page. ]

Subject INQUISITIVE has chosen the title WORDSMITH for himself; thirty people involved this time. Subjects INCENDIARY and PERSEVERING are both present. This has potential to go south extremely quickly.

First attempt at neutralizing INQUISITIVE/WORDSMITH has failed.
Second attempt set to begin as soon as humanly possible.
Overseer HILDA LARIMORE's signature has gone undetected.

Overseer HILDA LARIMORE has been located.
INQUISITIVE/WORDSMITH has not been neutralized, though he sees to have been convinced to step down. Further surveillance required.

...Seems Kirei kind of made a mess of things. That's all that's here, however.]

[ This is a scary moment where he's finding he agrees with that statement, if only because he doesn't like agreeing with Jericho on anything. Ever.

But he assumes there is a good reason for those words beyond even what he's witnessed because he would not be surprised, given the whole...everything with Kirei at that trial. ]

Okay, time to open up EVOLUTIONARY out of the first three files Rideaux passes over. ]

But yes, there very much is a file on EVOLUTIONARY in here; it's once again got a photograph clipped to the inside (complete with Ditty!), though the file itself seems a lot shorter than the others - there's just one page of text.

Apparently Subject EVOLUTIONARY was one of three people selling information to OBSERVANT/CONDUCTOR, in acceptance of his offer of either information or material goods in exchange. I'm not certain what she ended up getting from him. Hopefully she considered selling her entire group out to be worth it.]

[ There is a bit of a pause on his end as he considers something, rereading that. It doesn't sit well with him and he figures that it can be discussed later.

Alright, how about they move onto the next file. VAINGLORIOUS, that is. ]

[Once again, we've got a photograph and a brief amount of text.

Subject VAINGLORIOUS is one of those that overthrew AMBITIOUS/MASTERMIND. Normally that would be appreciated, but he proceeded to run another game unsanctioned after using Rachel to destroy another twenty-seven people. He's one of two people that have chosen to share the title of KINGMAKER. Twenty-nine people in his game. Bizarrely, one of them was himself - it's unclear whether this is confidence or a death wish.

Subject BOUNDLESS was present in his game. She chose to spare his life for the time being due to romantic connections with Subject VAINGLORIOUS/KINGMAKER.

[Moving right will get you something similar - a cleared-out drawer, a single file still inside it, because somebody doesn't know how to manage their damn space or something.
