WEEK 5
Tabitha Smith, Sigrun Eide, and Solf J Kimblee are all dead. Regardless of what you think of the trial or the events leading up to it, there's no denying that you can feel the dent in your numbers now. After all, ten people are gone now.

It may be hard, but all you can do is keep going.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

What with Jericho's excitement at the last trial, it's evident now more than ever that the new floor that's opened up to you is a gift, a reward for a job well-done. Because while surviving is something that you'll continue to try to do of your own merit...well.

Let's say that he's so, so very proud of you.

[Well, yesterday sure was something... But Rin gives no inkling of that, only smiling.]

It's been alright so far. Like you, I thought I would get some exercise in. I've been meaning to sooner, but I didn't have anything to work out in. [A skirt doesn't fly if you're going to be working out a lot.] I fixed that yesterday.

[Currently she's wearing a pair of shorts she made in the sewing room, and a loose-fitting shirt to go over it. Along with those, she's wearing a cute scarf.]

Hey, you know how to sew, too? Hehe, I can't say I'm surprised. You've got all sorts of talents, don't you?

[Some people would phrase that in a way that sounded jealous or bitter, maybe even suspicious. But Hibiki just sounds amazed!]

Hm, hm...as an idol who's done fashion shoots...I'll say you're a ten out of ten right now! Your look is great! I can't be wrong!

[Most people would a little flustered at such praise, either positively or negatively, but Rin doesn't even bat an eye. It puts her a little at ease, and she turns to show off all sides of the outfit.]

I've never made clothes before coming here, so it's not going to be making magazines anytime soon, but I'm pleased with it for my first try. At home, I only used the sewing supplies for simple tasks, like mending tears or making hair ribbons.

I really like knitting myself! I'm always buying yarn to take home to make somethin' out of.

[Hey, but that gives her an idea.]

Hey, Rin! We should make each other somethin'! Wouldn't that be fun?

You think so? [Rin stops her twirl, a hand on her hip.] It's true we have a lot of time on our hands... I can't see the harm in it.

[It could be a lot of fun? Rin moves again, lacing her fingers behind her back.]

It should be a surprise, right? That'll make it twice as exciting, when we don't know exactly what to expect.

It'll be lots of fun! And then we'll always have somethin' to remember each other by when we get out of here.

[She's well aware she might not, but she's trying not to bring the mood down today.]

I already know what I'm gonna make. What sorta colors do you like?

[It feels so fun, talking girly craft stuff again.]

If you've seen what I wear the most, it should be obvious; the Tohsakas have always been partial to red. But I like black as well? [Rin raises a hand to one of her hair ribbons as she says this.] And you can never go wrong with something luxurious, like gold.

Mm, got it! I've got a clear picture of what I'm gonna make in mind.

[That reminds her. Her own hair ribbon is blue, but her idol clothes from home are pink and silver. Her jewelry is all gold.]

Hey, Rin, in Namuko Pro...each idol gets her own image color. It's on all my merchandise. Can you guess which color they picked for me?

[The correct answer is turquoise or cyan.]

Hm? [Rin tilts her head from side to side, looking Hibiki over.]

They'd probably choose something to bring out the color of your hair and eyes, right? So maybe white, or a light blue...? [She's circling Hibiki now.] Oh, certain yellows could be cheery.

Woah! You got it in one! I guess I shouldn't have expected anythin' less! That sea in the crowd...light blue glowsticks all wavin' to the rhythm like the waves from back home...it's one of my favorite sights!

So you sing, and work with animals on TV. There were those bentos, too. What else do you do as an idol?

Namassuka Sunday! It's a variety show where I have a segment about tryin' to fulfill challenges the staff sets for me! I've done gravure shoots, cooking shows, radio shows, zoo appearances...even Hamuzou has fans! I'm always pretty busy!

Wow, even gravure shoots. Have you ever done advertisements?

Of course! CMs and ads are kinda fun. Hamuzou and I both endorse a number of animal treats, hehe. I taste all of 'em myself!

Ehh? Are they actually okay for humans to eat?

Why are ya asking me that?

[It's not like she eats dog treats.]

It's about food anyone can eat! Sunflower seeds, nut mixes, berries, jerky, vegetables...that sorta stuff.

[Look Hibiki, sometimes it's hard to tell with you...]

You said animal treats, after all! I assumed they were marketed to animals, but they turned out to be more organic than I thought.

Hehe, of course I'd never do somethin' like that! I'd only consider it a little.

I love sharin' the sunflower seeds with my family of pets but then they get mad at me because I can eat more than them.

[Pfft.]

It's not your fault you have opposable thumbs to open the bag.

Mm, mm! And maybe I bragged about that once or twice.

[She can't help but laugh a little at her own story.]

I sure miss 'em. Every single one of them. Hey, did I ever tell you why I became an idol, Rin?

I don't think so. [Rin taps her chin, moving over to the hand weights.] I asked Maizono-san, but it didn't come up with you.

I usually tell people it's because I have so many pets that I've gotta earn money to feed 'em all, but...when I was really little, my dad passed away. He was pretty sick for a while.

[She rubs her neck a little. Maybe the gym isn't the best place to tell this story, but she really wants to.]

[Oh, well that stops Rin from moving on to a weight routine. She looks back over her shoulder at Hibiki.]

What did he have?

It was cancer. It was a long time ago, so it's not somethin' I think about as often as I used to. Money was pretty tight after. There was me, my brother, my mom, my grandma, Kokemaro...she's my chicken. Hehe, my brother told me..."Hibiki, you could never make it as an idol," so I went to a performance school and made my debut right in Okinawa before being scouted by Namuko Pro.

[She looks away for just a moment. She's really been worried about her family.]

I guess this is all comin' from nowhere, huh? But when I think of my image color, I just think of the waves back home. Have you ever been to Okinawa, Rin?

[Going to sit down on one of the mats, Rin shakes her head and pats the space beside her. Come sit too, Hibiki.]

I haven't, even though it's close. [Fun fact: Fuyuki's real world location would be somewhere in the Kyushu prefecture.] I've left Fuyuki a few times, but only to travel abroad.
