trustfell | Week 7.

WEEK 7
Orihime Inoue, Estellise Sidos Heurassein, and Kirei Kotomine all died this past week. One of your Coordinators died as well, leaving you with a new face but still no end to this. Several of you are finding yourselves at a crossroads: either keep moving forward, or accept the inevitability of fate. It's your own choice, your own decision; no one's going to make it for you.

Over half of you are gone now.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Once again, a new floor has been opened to you; unfortunately, either this is a particularly strange reward or Jericho is starting to get downright sarcastic. Perhaps there's something in it for you despite the setup; who knows, though there's really only one way to find out.

[Once they're inside Yuri's room, Rideaux sets his box down in an open spot and peers at Yuri's stuff.]

You're letting it get awfully messy in here.

[Just some casual poking fun as he examines the desk's contents.

...oh? Eyes widening slightly, he picks up the Mysterious Bead.]

Huh. That ended up in the machine? Funny, I don't need it here...

Yeah. Maybe it'll get to the point where I'll be forced to stuff it all under the bed.

[ Anyway, joking aside... ]

You don't? Is that supposed to be able to do something?

[ Because it just looks literally like a regular ol' bead to him, for obvious reasons. ]

Well, it is an ingredient for a very potent pain medication that I have been developing. However, most of what we have here will suffice for anything that should arise.

[No one's going to need it long-term, from what he knows...]

Huh.

[ Yuri looks at it and then at him. ]

I guess I shouldn't go around just popping this thing straight into my mouth, then.

[ ... He says that so casually, but he honestly wouldn't do something like that. Really. ]

[Rideaux's response is quick and actually very serious. Normally he would probably give a sarcastic quip about this, but with Yuri? He's not messing around.]

Absolutely not. If you ingested that as it is now, you would die rather quickly.

[ ... Oh.

Well then, that's not what he expected. Usually there's some kind of 'oh you will feel very bad if you did something stupid like that' with these things. Again, not that he's going to toss the damn thing into his mouth, but still. ]

Oh. Uh, thanks for the heads up?

[It's at this point that Rideaux notices he's tensed up quite a bit, so he sighs and allows himself to relax again.]

You're welcome. These beads are extremely poisonous in their raw form. It takes a skilled medical professional to alter them into something suitable for relief.

[...]

Perhaps I should take this with me for safekeeping. Do you care?

[ Yuri notices too, but he figures that it was actually kind of reasonable...considering how dangerous the thing was. ]

Nah, I don't mind at all. I don't know how you managed to do your thing with it, and I don't want to get this everywhere...somehow.

[ He goes over to it, thinks about tossing it but then realizes that might be a stupid idea, and then heads over to hold it out to Rideaux. ]

Thank you. [He'll go ahead and pocket it.] It is a complicated process, and I'd rather not put you through me attempting to explain all the technical details of making medicine. But, as I said, I am not in need of that pain medication here, so I plan to just keep this bead hidden away so it won't end up used incorrectly.

You can keep the flowers, by the way--I kinda suck at taking care of stuff like that, if you know what I mean. I don't really need anything in exchange, either.

[Ah... Rideaux looks a little awkward when it comes to the topic of the medication. This isn't something he talks about, even back in his world.]

Yes. [...because it's Yuri, he'll elaborate.] This may come as a surprise, but I have had some complications with my health over the years. So far, only that medication has helped provide at least some relief. It is not a concern here, though. The Coordinators have assured me as much.

[It's still something that he finds strange, but there's not much good in overthinking about it.

As for the flowers, that gets a small smirk from Rideaux.]

Well, thank you. I have no idea how long they'll last here, but I'll try to make sure they last as long as possible. You are welcome to come admire my handiwork anytime.

[Lord.]

Yeah it does. [ The image of Rideaux being ill is so foreign to him it's unreal. ] Well, I guess that's one of the very few good things to come out of this mess.

[ Yuri's thinking about it a little, because he did think it was a bit weird. Then again they can bring people back from the dead apparently, so why not this too? ]

Handiwork? Are you gonna do some kinda fancy thing with the flowers?

...Yes. I suppose I was one of the few who came into this better-off than I was before, as contradictory as that sounds.

[He nods to the question about the flowers.]

I was thinking of arranging them in a nice vase if I can find one. If not, I'll find a glass and just fashion a nice ribbon on it.
