WEEK 5
Tabitha Smith, Sigrun Eide, and Solf J Kimblee are all dead. Regardless of what you think of the trial or the events leading up to it, there's no denying that you can feel the dent in your numbers now. After all, ten people are gone now.

It may be hard, but all you can do is keep going.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

What with Jericho's excitement at the last trial, it's evident now more than ever that the new floor that's opened up to you is a gift, a reward for a job well-done. Because while surviving is something that you'll continue to try to do of your own merit...well.

Let's say that he's so, so very proud of you.

Initially, given the red eyes that's who I thought they portrayed. I only looked closely enough to tell that wasn't it a moment ago.

Those Dead Apostle folks, or someone different? For the vampires I know, the eye colors do vary, but it's really only from brown to red for the most part.

Oh really? It must be a purity thing.

Purity? Do your eyes say you're more or less pure?

It's a bloodline thing. In my world, red eyes are commonly seen in three different kinds of being. Dead Apostles, as you deduced, but also homunculi. And in rarer encounters, divinity.

Divinity? What, you guys figure that Jesus fellow has bright red peepers?

[ Elda shakes her head, laughing a little. Purity... huh. ]

... There'd be nothing which could dilute vamprie biology like that. Humans and vampires- well, a pairing there's a dead end.

[Nah man, Jesus probably has the same Mystic Eyes that lets you kill a chair.]

I don't know about that, but it was the case for a demigod or two I've met.

... Okay you just threw out an impossible thing moving on to a regular thing, so I'm not sure how to respond. Let's focus on what is so contradictory for now.

You said nothing can dilute vampire biology, only to follow it up with a comment that crossbreeding is a dead end.

If you mean a literal dead end, only one of those statements can be true, right?

Children of humans and vampires are born with no reproductive capabilities. Ever. It's a dead end, like I said, and so dilution is impossible. There's no future in them.

[...oh. In that light—yes, no wonder the vampire race as Elda described it would be in so much trouble. With such a limited breeding pool...]

Sorry. That ended up being a depressing subject. [She admires the picture of Adelina a little more.] Your talent as an artist is quite good, though. Adelina is stunning.
